Another post now for an article within Dazed&Confused about Dave Egger and his publications.
He began in publishing learning Quark as a student then ventured out into writing. He made 'McSweeney's Quarterly Concern', a publication about literary reviews. Steering away from the normally dusty and frumpy old-dad style he has brought a different style to literary reviews which has thus brought a younger audience and eclectic team of people wanting to submit work within it. He publishes it a range of ways, from three books in a slipcase, to a stack of papers like junk-mail. Dazed&Confused quotes each issue of being more like a present than a publication with issue 16 being in an 'elaborately decorated canvas box that contains two beautifully bound books, a pack of large, glossy playing cards with a story printed over the course of the 52-deck, and a little black quartz comb that sits in its own special pocket, embossed with "Timothy" in italic silver handwriting.
He also does 'Wholphin' a DVD magazine featuring shorts, animation etc, 'The Believer' with reviews of everything and anything & finally 'Book Release Club' for releasing his own titles and those who he chooses.
